Trap Earth Machine Burn
Deck Description
Ground Cerberus is one of the most underwhelming 2 tribute monsters released recently, debuting in Deck Modification Pack - Galaxy of Fate, the, as of writing, latest main set. WIth a less than stellar statline (just barely too weak to even match the popular 2.5k ATK or DEF monsters in the format) as well as having the mediocre effect of burning for 300 times the number of Earth Machines you control, an effect that would've benefited from a good statline, and also having the unfortunate Level of 8, locking it out of being good Ship of Seven Treasures fodder. (Megaroad Pack does introduce cards that encourages the use of Level 8s like Trade-In and Imptailing Crisis but for the purposes of this profile we aren't playing with cards from that set). The pool of low level Earth Machine monsters also aren't particularly impressive either. This card is, putting it lightly, horrendous. That's never stopped people before though so we're making it anyway.
The best quality of the card is that it is repeatable burn damage. As such we are going to be playing a Burn strategy (what a surprise). We're running a variety of Traps that help us keep Cerberus on field. Attack Salary Cut and Music Princess's Solo Performance are great as these are generic in what they can protect. In terms of Machine themed Traps, Battle Demotion is the best Machine Trap available that doesn't have too steep of a requirement. Althought it is unable to protect the non-Machines in the deck they are able to protect the low level Machine monsters and are still able to help maintain Cerberus on field. Jointech Bumper is the closest thing Machines have to Dark Revelation, although it is a very neutered version of it, requiring specifically Normal Machines and it only activates on direct attack, meaning that it is incapable of protecting your boss monsters, which is why i'm only on 1 despite being a board wipe. While That's All from the Scene! has similar problems it is different in 1 key area: It prevents taking further damage for that turn instead of destroying, which means it plays better into Secret Order and similar cards, but it is definitely one of the weaker inclusions here and can easily be swapped out for another battle trick. 1 copy of Crisis at the Sacred Tower is nice against decks like Thunderbold but does nothing into matchups like Gate Order, and since the best deck of the format is immune to it 1 copy at max is preferable. We're playing a Sakuretsu package of Sakuretsu Armor and 3 Sakuretsu Force, which is the closest analogue to Dark Revelation we have. Mirror Force is also a good consideration, but the deck is already quite low power, might as well play the more greedy value oriented option in the Sakuretsu package.
In terms of 2-tributes, 3 copies of Ground Cerberus as the main focal point of the deck, it is also good to have the additional Machines to either protect with Battle Demotion, discard with That's All from the Scene! or Crafter Drone. 3 copies of...Night Vision the Phantom Pigeon. The actually good boss monster in the deck and additional source of burn damage, synergizes well with the gameplan apart from not being able to be protected by Battle Demotion, but that's what Attack Salary Cut and Music Princess's Solo Performance are here for. Wicked Shadow Dark Lurker is another good generic burn option that also clears backrow, pressures your opponent into not wanting to set backrow in the ideal scenario (worst case is it gets Meteor Charge'd but it's still a good burn tool and a wall overall).
For Jointech Bumper, we have 9 Normal Earth Machines: 3 Jointech Ace, 3 Reportrain and 3 Shovel Crusher. Not much to say about these, earth machines for Cerberus and are the highest statted Normal Earth Machines available, with the exception of Shovel Crusher, which is here because it's the only Level 3 Normal Earth Machine available, which is important for the 3 copies of Necroman III, which is ran to give additional tribute fodder for something like the Lurker and is a way to get additional Earth Machines on board. 3 Amazing Dealer as consistency, we are only playing 7 2 tributes so having more ways to get to them is crucial. 3 Crafter Drone for the same reason, also the best Earth Machine available as well. 3 Crusher Drone is an interesting inclusion, it's here first and foremost as an Earth Machine beater, but it also mills 2 cards off the top of your deck, which can help set up your traps for Night Vision the Phantom Pigeon, Normal Machines for Jointech Bumper, specifically Shovel Crushers for Necroman III and even Sakuretsu Armor for Sakuretsu Force.
Is this strategy good? Nowhere close. But it is still in my opinion a good shot at trying to make Ground Cerberus work. If you want to play something involving Cerberus or just want to play a bad burn deck, this deck is for you.
